North Eastern states move towards green market

Pennsylvania has the most active retail electricity market in the US, but other states in the North East are moving towards a green market. In Delaware, regulators have defined green power as having to contain at least 50% renewables, including wind, solar and all hydro facilities. From now on suppliers must also inform customers what the power they are buying contains. At present only customers of green power marketer Conectiv can choose their retail supplier, although all of the state's customers will be able to choose their electricity supplier by April 2001. Conectiv, of Wilmington, Delaware, offers green power in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey, as well as telephone and Internet services.
