AN Windenergie celebrated the installation of its 500th turbine with the commissioning of a 1 MW AN Bonus unit in Bremen last month. The machine, expected to generate 1.3 million kWh a year, went up at a site in Pusdorf in the port area of Bremen, close to an AN Bonus 600 kW machine and just a stone's throw from the company headquarters. Dubbed "Windkraft Pusdorf," the project received financial support from the city-state of Bremen. The "milestone" megawatt plant is operated by ANW, a company set up by the employees of AN Windenergie expressly to own and operate AN Bonus machines. Their aim, says Nobert Giese, head of marketing at AN Windenergie, is not merely to build wind turbines but also to generate clean power.
