Dewind breaking new ground in blade production

Dewind says it is "breaking new ground in development, materials and construction of a 40 metre blade" undertaken jointly with the Technical University of Delft, Dutch national laboratory Energieonderzoek Centrum Nederland (ECN) and Dutch blade manufacturer Polymarin. By using both carbon and glassfibre materials, it believes it is finding solutions to achieving the weight reduction needed for building blades big enough for multi-megawatt wind turbines, without compromising on strength and fatigue qualities.
