Co-operation deal between LM Glasfiber and REpower over biggest blades

The biggest wind turbine blades in the world, for a 125 metre rotor, are being designed and produced by LM Glasfiber for a 5 MW turbine to be made by Germany's REpower Systems. The companies are co-operating on the blade development. LM has completed a preliminary design for the blade and a prototype should be ready at the end of 2003. The entire 5 MW turbine, dubbed the REpower 5M, is to be ready at the beginning of 2004, REpower says.
