Swedish developer's feasibility study into wind power projects in Afghanistan
1 March 2002
A feasibility study into wind power development in Afghanistan is to be conducted for Convergence Energy of the United States by Swedish wind project developer Renewable Energy of Malmö. Convergence is the Swedish company's US partner and one of its main shareholders. It is said to have good contacts with the US authorities, which have given it access to the new interim Afghan government. Renewable Energy says Convergence is "expecting requisite financial support" for the wind power project from federal American funds allocated for reconstruction operations in the war-torn central Asian country.
