The global news is this month concentrated in the WindWire pages. The month's highlights include the recent scare in Germany over a possible European Commission attack on its wind power subsidy system for not complying with European law (page 6), sad news of no less than seven planning permit refusals for wind plants in Britain illustrating once again the desperate need for legislative intervention (page 8), and the fading hopes for a speedy reintroduction of wind's all important Production Tax Credit in the United States (page 12).
As in previous years, the August issue of Windpower Monthly is devoted to our annual abstract and headline index. Read more about the index on pages 18-19.
