Vestfrost's new wind turbine factory, Wincon West Wind, has erected a prototype 600 kW wind turbine near Esbjerg. The company reports the machine, the W600/45, has a rotor diameter and hub height of 45 meters and a calculated energy output of 1.6 GWh. The wind turbine uses new regulation and control methods that continuously optimise the machine's output in relation to the weather conditions, Wincon reports. It is the first of a series of three turbines Wincon plans to develop in the next three years, at least one of which will be in the megawatt class. Wincon is a division of A/S Vestfrost, Denmark's largest producer of refrigerators and freezers with nine factories employing 1600 people. Wincon's administration and sales offices are located at Vestfrost's headquarters in Esbjerg in the west of Denmark.
