A 10.2 MW wind plant on the island of Bozcaada was inaugurated in June. The wind station consists of 17, 600 kW Enercon turbines from Germany and is located in the Canakkale province. The island of Bozcaada lies off the western coast of Turkey. Shareholders in the wind plant are the developer, Demirer Holding, and Enercon. The $13 million project is expected to generate 30 GWh a year, says Demirer. After 20 years of operation, ownership will be transferred to the Turkish state electricity company, Tedas. This is the first project subject to private business law since a change to the Turkish constitution earlier this year (story page 54).
