Spain's incumbent Secretary of State for Energy, Alberto Lafuente, signed an agreement last month with the newly formed Association of Spanish Turbine Manufacturers to promote national technology. The aim of the agreement is to encourage the use of Spanish made turbines on Spanish ground and also for export. The association, which came into existence in February, currently has four member companies -- Made, Desarrollos E—licos, Ecotècnia and Gamesa E—lica -- and is headed by Made's Enrique Fernandez Mato. Lafuente says Spanish technology is highly competitive, ranking among the best on the market.
