Spain's Gamesa sets up turbine manufacturing facility in Denmark

For the first time in years a wind turbine manufacturer has set up shop in Denmark. The world's fourth largest wind power company, Spanish Gamesa, has opened Gamesa Wind Engineering, in Silkeborg -- a location which puts it more or less at the centre of a triangle formed by the bases of Vestas, NEG Micon and Bonus. According to marketing director Enrique Pedrosa, the subsidiary is seeking to employ experienced wind turbine specialists -- although the aim is not to directly poach staff from Vestas, Gamesa's former partner, and the company behind its wind turbine technology to date. The purpose of Gamesa Wind Engineering us to develop technology and identify component suppliers, says Pedrosa.
