Green ministry undergoes reshuffle
There's been a reshuffle in India's Ministry of Non Conventional Energy Sources (MNES). Dr Ahmar Raza takes over as director of wind energy from B.M.L. Garg, who served the wind industry in the post for 13 years, while Dr K.K. Singh is taking over from Ajit Gupta as advisor to the MNES. Gupta leaves after overseeing the introduction of the Program of Remote Village Electrification, an ambitious plan that looks at electrifying 80,000 villages by 2007. He has long been a driving force for wind power to contribute substantially to India's power generation.
