COMMISSION PROMISES TO RESTORE FULL BUDGET TO RENEWABLES

Commission promises to restore full budget to renewables. The European Commission (EC) is restoring the full budget allocation to renewable energy in this year's round of Joule funding under Europe's Non Nuclear Energy programme. Renewable technology proposals have top priority in a new "reserve list" round of project selections and an extra call for proposals for a supplementary round of Joule is now being prepared for publication in January. Renewables will be given priority over other sectors in this call and projects not successful first time round will be encouraged to bid. Explanation of why projects were downgraded is still incomplete.
