Consultancy services are now being offered to the fledgling offshore wind sector. The news follows the decision by Danish company Elsam Engineering to link up with the UK's RPS Hydrosearch, a firm of energy consultants, to provide "life-of-project" consultancy services for wind plant. Uffe K Jorgensen at Elsam Engineering says the co-operation "provides developers with a total project support solution that has been lacking in offshore wind to date." The companies now offer potential wind plant developers a range of services from wind resource, environmental impact assessment and site permitting advice through to wind farm planning, electrical connection and construction planning and support. "The opportunity to integrate such a wide range of services should provide significant technical and cost benefits to our clients," says Mick Cook from RPS Hydrosearch.
