Officials from the city of Campo Largo in Brazil's Parana state are to study 30 MW of wind potential in the São Luis do Purunã mountains as part of the Enova renewable energy development program due to begin last month. Parana's technological institute, Tecpar, and local distributor Cocel will back the project, which will also examine a 60 MW hydro project and solar potential which could supply 12% of the city's power needs. With the program, Cocel hopes to be able to cut its power purchases from state utility Copel, Parana On Line reports.
