Fall in electricity use

Danish electricity consumption fell 0.9% from 1996 to 1997, according to statistics released by Danish utilities. Nonetheless, trade and industry consumption rose nearly 2%, though this compares with an overall sector growth double that figure, pointing to a more efficient use of electricity. Private consumer use fell by 3%, due mostly to warmer winter weather in the start of 1997 than the year before, the utilities say.
