Domestic market decline set to continue

The decline of the German wind market is expected to continue, confirms a study by renewables consultant Övermöhle. For 2006 new capacity additions are expected to fall to 1400 MW from the 1808 MW in 2005, it says, while for 2007 and 2008 it forecasts new installations totalling just 1250 MW and 750 MW respectively. Even so, this means Germany's cumulative capacity will rise from 18,430 MW at the end of 2005 (Windpower Monthly, March 2006) to 21,830 MW by the end of 2008. The study is based on a survey of plans by 60 wind developers in the country.
