The Swiss wind lobby is disappointed but not totally dispirited by a court ruling against construction of a 12.25 MW wind station in the Cret-Meuron region near Vue-des-Alpes. The administrative court of the Neuenburg canton decided that protection of the mountainous Jura landscape is more important than energy policy to promote renewable energy, says Swiss wind energy organisation Suisse Eole. The court argued that electricity supply is not in a critical state that might otherwise justify installation of wind turbines rather than full protection of the landscape. The judgement has no significance in other regions of the country, Suisse Eole stresses.
