Acciona's new turbine component facility
1 March 2006
Spanish wind developer and turbine manufacturer Acciona Energía says it will turn out 184 hubs and 161 main shafts in 2006 at a new turbine component facility inaugurated last month in Toledo, 100 kilometres south of Madrid. The components are for the Acciona Windpower 1.5 MW machine, formerly marketed under the Ingetur brand name. Ingetur technology was included as part of Acciona's acquisition of renewables project developer EnergÌa Hidroeléctrica Navarra just over a year ago. Acciona Windpower turbines are assembled at the company's turbine facility in Navarra and at a new facility building in China. Orders for the turbines have been received from customers in China, France and Spain. Acciona spent over EUR 500,000 on retrofitting the Toledo facility, previously occupied by blade manufacturer LM Glasfiber. The new owner, Industria Toledana de Energías Renovables--a 100% Acciona affiliate--employs 25 people, 24 from LM's former staff.
