Big Danish order of megawatt turbines bound for Aomori

Japanese wind developer Ecopower Co Ltd has ordered 22, 1.5 MW turbines from Danish NEG Micon for a wind farm in Rokasho, in northern Aomori prefecture. Ecopower has paid about JPY 2.5 billion for the turbines, making this the biggest project for NEG Micon in Japan so far. The 33 MW wind farm will be owned 100% by Ecopower and it is expected on-line around December 2002. Ecopower has installed several NEG Micon turbines in Japan over the past years, mostly for small wind farms or stand alone projects. By the end of 2000, NEG Micon had delivered 73 turbines to Japan with a total capacity of 35.45 MW.
