NEW MARKETS FOR NORDEX
Nordex is finding new markets further and further abroad. Last month it clinched the sale of a 250 kW turbine to Japanese utility Konsae Electric Power Co. The unit will be used as a demonstration model by the utility which will be installing the turbine in January. Nordex is also installing a 250 kW for demonstration purposes in Maison City, Iowa, in the United States. In particular the wind company has its eyes on the huge rural market for wind turbines in America. Nordex is also currently shipping seven to eight turbines a week to India now that expected orders are materialising from Indian companies (see story page 22). A report last month that a sale of 30 turbines had been made to China is incorrect says Jens Pedersen. The machines are, indeed, on their way to India. So far Nordex has manufactured over 200 turbines for the Indian market.
