The European Renewable Energy Export Council was inaugurated on July 3 at a ceremony attended by the European Commissioner for Energy, Christos Papoutsis. The export council aims to promote the sale of renewable energy technologies to countries outside Europe. Other speakers included Ian Mays of the European Wind Energy Association. With only three months between the idea for the council being mooted and its inauguration, the board of directors has yet to meet says Christophe Bourillon of the European Wind Energy Association, one of the founding organisations. However a first meeting is scheduled for October 12 where a plan of action will be mapped out, says Bourillon. He says the members of the council include: the European Small Hydropower Association (ESHA), the European Biomass Association (EUBIA), the European Photovoltaics Association (EPIA), and EWEA.
