Gamesa, one of Spain's largest wind power developers and the Catalan Siestemas Energeticos y Solares (SES) have joined forces to invest in three new wind farms, one across the Straits of Gibraltar in Morocco and two in northeast Spain. The first 6.3 MW project is intended for Girona's Port Bou, close to the border with France; the second 9.6 MW venture will be sited in Tarragona, south of Barcelona; and the third is planned from two possible locations in Morocco -- the Atlas Mountains or Tangier. The total investment for the three plant is estimated at ESP 5 billion. All the wind turbines will use Spanish-built Vestas turbines.
