Enron Wind and Northern Alternative Energy are included on a shortlist of seven announced December 14 by Northern States Power (NSP) in Minnesota to bring 1200 MW of resources on-line between 2003 and 2005. The companies responded to a request asking for generating capacity from any resource. Announcement of winners is expected this month and contracts by April.
Other companies on the short list are Badger Generating of Houston; Black Hills Corp of Rapid City, South Dakota; Lakefield Junction LLP of Omaha, Nebraska; Manitoba Hydro of Winnepeg; and Mid-American Power of Green Bay, Wisconsin. NSP says the total megawatts represented by the seven companies oversubscribes the 1200 MW sought and include a mix of peaking, intermediate and baseload generation from natural gas, water and wind resources.
