Construction company branches out to wind

Construction firm Kajima Corp has set up a new division to take care of its wind business: consulting services and construction of wind plants. Kajima is working on its first wind project in Niigata-prefecture. To find the best areas for wind power development in Japan, Kajima has developed simulation software able to predict the direction and force of winds ten times more precisely than has been possible so far, the company claims. The software, says Kajima, pinpoints development areas starting from a region of several hundred square kilometres and can predict wind patterns down to 100 square metres.
