UK turbine tower manufacturer to diversify into wave energy
1 July 2005
UK wind turbine tower manufacturer Camcal -- previously known as Cambrian Engineering -- is to diversify into wave energy. The company has been contracted by Ocean Power Delivery to fabricate the main tube segments for its Pelamis Wave Energy Converter, which it claims is the world's first commercial wave-farm project. Three Pelamis machines are to be sited off Portugal's northern coast. Camcal will manufacture 12 tube segments at its Arnish production facility on the Isle of Lewis, Scotland.
