Catalonian bank buys into wind plant
1 April 2001
Catalonian bank Caixa Catalunya has bought a 20% share in the 50 MW Carcelen wind plant in Albacete, Castile La Mancha. Renewables developer Elecdey owns 55%, with another 20% owned by US power giant Cinergy. Caixa Catalunya first entered into the renewables business in 1998 with a 17% stake in Enervent, which developed two of only four operational wind stations in Catalonia (Windpower Monthly, April 2000). The Carcelen investment marks the latest in Caixa Catalunya's growing list of renewables ventures, worth ESP 11 billion total, most of these in wind plant, according to the bank.
