Turbine delivery for Europe's biggest onshore wind farm near Glasgow

The first turbines have been delivered to the site of Europe's biggest onshore wind farm, at Eaglesham Moor, south of Glasgow. When completed in 2009, the 322 MW Whitelee wind farm will be able to generate enough electricity to supply all the homes in Glasgow, a city with a population of 630,000. Work began on site in September 2006 with construction of infrastructure, access roads and many of the foundations. Delivery of the rest of the 140 Siemens turbines will take place over the next 14 months.
