European assocation meets new EC renewables boss

The new head of the renewable energy unit of the Directorate for Energy (DG XVII), Patrick Lambert, held informal talks in Brussels recently with a delegation from the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA). EWEA chief executive Christophe Bourillon says the delegation was "seeking reassurance for the future of wind energy in Europe" when it met with Lambert and Pablo de Benavides, the Director of DG XVII. Bourillon was accompanied to Brussels by association president Ian Mays and EWEA board member Andreas Wagner from Germany. "This is a crucial time for the wind energy industry," says Mays. "It is extremely important that the industry work with the European Commission on the current discussions on the internal market, electricity liberalisation, and the White Paper on renewables. We discussed a number of ideas for future co-operation which will benefit the whole European wind industry."
