NEW WIND TURBINE COMPANY, DEWIND
A new wind turbine company has been founded in Germany. Dewind came to life in Lübeck on August 1, 1995, working in cooperation with the Lübeck branch of Krupp Fördertechnik, a major machine construction company with headquarters in Duisburg. Hugo Schippmann of Dewind says five of the eight founding members of the company moved from wind turbine manufacturer Ventis of Braunschweig. He stresses the team character of the company management and says finance for the new venture is being provided by two private individuals from outside the wind sector. A prototype 500 kW turbine with variable speed, three blades and pitch control will be installed in January 1996, says Schippmann. The design is by the Dewind team, with Aerodyn Energiesysteme of Damendorf providing engineering back-up.
