MORE ELECTRICITY FROM WIND THAN FROM HYDROELECTRIC
Utility Sevillana of Spain's Andalusian southern region announced last month that it had generated more electricity from wind power than from hydroelectric power for the first time in the history of the company. Up until October, wind power generation represented 82 million kWh/year compared with 77 million kWh/year generated by hydroelectric power systems. Spain has been badly hit by drought which has drastically reduced water reserves in hydroelectric dams across the country, and especially in Andalusia, home to the Sevillana company. All the wind power was generated at the Tarifa wind farms
