Unit growth for wind developer

International wind plant developer Wasserkraft und Regenerative Energieentwicklung AB has changed its name to Unit Energy Europe to reflect its growth since 1996 from a renewable energy generator to a European energy services company. Unit Energy Europe, based in Frankfurt, has wind stations planned or in operation in Portugal and Greece and plans for a number of large offshore wind farms in Germany, England and Wales (Windpower Monthly, March 1999), including a 100 MW offshore wind station in the bay of Lübeck (page 18). The company has been marketing green power to household customers in four German cities since August under the name of Unit Energy Stromvertrieb and has several hundred customers, it says. Its English subsidiary, Unit Energy, will soon start marketing power in England and Wales, while in Austria its new company named Unit(e) Ökostrom will begin sales sometime next year.
