After a four month delay the Internet world wide web site monitoring the performance of the Netherlands' new green energy credit market -- the Green Label System -- can now be accessed at http://www.Groenlabelned.nl. Alongside a bulletin board where notices of green labels for sale or wanted can be posted, the site features a market monitor. When the site comes fully on-line in the summer, the monitor will provide the wind watcher with a grandstand view of the performance of the new free market in Green Labels as the Dutch power distribution companies struggle to reach their target of securing 1.7 billion kWh of generated power from renewable resources by the year 2000. Monthly figures based on details of labels issued by the Green Label National Registration Point will provide a "live" picture of the current state of the market, while other graphics screens supply additional information on the market division by types of renewable (wind currently at 59%), remaining life of present renewables contracts, and volumes of supply and demand.
