Announcement of the winners of a 75 MW renewables request for proposals from last year is still awaited from Wisconsin Electric. WEPCO's Chris Schoenherr says a decision is expected any day. The leading candidate is rumoured to be a wind farm near West Bend, which will be a joint project with other utilities. WEPCO will use some of the capacity to cover its obligation under last year's state Reliability Act. On June 14 the utility finished installing two Vestas 660 kW turbines near Fond du Lac, south of Lake Winnebago. The power will be used for their Energy for Tomorrow green pricing program, which currently has over 9000 customers. WEPCO recently expanded Energy for Tomorrow to non-residential customers.
