Wind-solar hybrid proposal for Elephanta Island

Maharashtra Energy Development Agency plans to install a 90 kW wind-solar hybrid electric system at Elephanta island, in the district of Raigad, known for its ancient caves. Proposals for the project, which is part funded by the Ministry of Non-conventional Energy Sources, have been invited on a build, own and operate basis. One idea is to use ten of the Vestas 55 kW turbines installed in Deogarh years ago which are not being used.
