Washington legislators have settled on $49 million as the budget for wind research, development and commercialisation for fiscal year 1995, starting this October. In early August, conferees of the House of Representatives and the Senate ironed out the differences between each house's proposal -- $51.7 million and $46 million respectively. "We're pleased to have a 63.3% increase over last year," says Randy Swisher of the American Wind Energy Association. This year's budget is $30.353 million.
