Largest forging press makes 70 ton ingots for wind

Bharat Forge, the flagship company of the $2.4 billion Kalyani Group, has commissioned India's largest commercial open forging press at its Mundhwa facility in Pune. The facility will produce ingots ranging up to 70 tons and will cater to the wind industry, among others, the company says. Parts to be manufactured in Pune include shafts for the wind and power generation sectors. "Today marks a very significant step that we have taken into a new area of business...the manufacture of critical components for the non-automotive sector," said the company's BN Kalyani at the official opening. "To support this goal, we have made substantial investment both in terms of capacity and capability creation as well as backward integration."
