Welcome common sense on the wires
As a person who is more than a little concerned over the policies regarding wind power in the UK, I was pleased to read the common sense inherent in your article on evolving the grid for wind power (Rewiring Britain-In Search of Reason, October 2003). Wind power needs to get over the impression that it is inflicting itself on the north of the UK just because no one in London a) wants a wind farm near London b) can be bothered to take conservation seriously. Is a 1.5 megawatt turbine in the Highlands of Scotland worth a 1 megawatt turbine in the North Pennines and a 500 kW turbine in the Thames Estuary?
