TERES computer model earns award

The TERES computer model, which enabled the European Commission (EC) to develop its renewable energy strategy, has helped a small UK company win a Queen's Award for Export Achievement. Energy for Sustainable Development (ESD) Ltd, a 15 strong company from Wiltshire, has seen its export earnings more than treble in the last three years. As well as energy assessments for the EC and the World Bank, it has worked on a variety of projects throughout Europe and in Africa. TERES (The European Renewable Energy Study) examined the potential for renewable energy in 30 countries. It provided background information for the preparation of the EU's White Paper on Renewable Energy, released in December. ESD's work shows that the export market for renewable energy could be worth £150 billion by 2020.
