Moving up the image ladder

The entry of huge international engineering companies, like the mighty General Electric and FKI plc (the world's biggest independent supplier of turbogenerators), is boosting the image of wind power as a serious energy industry player. GE and FKI have not appeared on the fringes to sell widgets and gadgets. They intend to play dominant roles as wind turbine manufacturers, with plans for massive investment in technology development. Reg Gott of FKI (right) stresses the company's experience in the offshore market as the lead supplier of generation equipment.
