Airtricity gets permit for 350 MW off coast of Holland

Airtricity, subsidiary of Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE), has secured consent for a second wind farm in the North Sea off the Netherlands. Breeveertien II will consist of up to 97 turbines with a combined capacity of 350 MW located 60 kilometres off Ijmuiden. The Dutch government approved the project just over a month after it gave the nod to Airtricity's 260 MW West Rijn offshore wind farm. Airtricity is now focusing on securing financial support for both projects through the Dutch government's renewables support mechanism.
