A prototype Nordic 1000 was erected at Näsudden on Gotland in early April. The Swedish machine is a scaled up version of the Nordic 400 that has been tested for two years at Lyse on the west coast. The Nordic 1000 is a 1 MW two bladed, stall regulated wind turbine with variable speed. After tests the Vattenfall utility expects to take it over in the autumn when a two year evaluation program will follow for this EU-sponsored R&D-project.
