EDF Energies Nouvelles, the renewable energy subsidiary 50%-owned by French utility EDF, will use 2 MW turbines from Danish producer Vestas for a 74 MW wind farm on the Italian island of Sardinia. Turbines for the wind farm, near the city of Bonorva in the north-west of the island, will be delivered in 2009 and 2010. Sardinia currently has installed wind capacity of 467 MW and in 2008 updated its regional energy plan to do away with a previous cap for wind of 550 MW. Through its EDF EN Italia subsidiary, EDF Energies Nouvelles has holdings in four operational Italian wind farms with a combined capacity of 234.1 MW.
