Utility GDF Suez taps Nordex for 75 MW
The giant, Paris-based utility GDF Suez has contracted Nordex to supply and install 30 of its 2.5 MW turbines in France in 2010. The machines are primarily destined for the 75 MW Germinon project in the Marne département, developed by Nass & Wind Technologie, which Gaz de France (GDF) bought earlier this year before it merged with Suez. One of the terms of the deal is that Nass & Wind will see its projects through to completion on behalf of GDF. Nordex is currently commissioning another three projects totalling 27.5 MW at nearby Cernon. Though all developed by Nass & Wind, two of the plant (17.5 MW) are now owned by Spain's Endesa and the third is 70% owned by local private investors and 30% by Nass & Wind. GDF Suez says it has 334 MW of wind power operating or under construction in France, plus construction permits for a further 500 MW.
