India's first 1 MW turbine has been erected at Supa in Maharashtra's Ahmednagar district by Suzlon Energy Ltd, in co-operation with German Südwind Energiesysteme GmbH, Suzlon's technology partner. The wind energy potential identified at the site is 20 MW, Suzlon says. The company is also erecting and commissioning a number of wind energy projects at Vankhusawde, where the Maharashtra Energy Development Authority has estimated the generation potential at 300 MW. Suzlon expects to commission projects of 150 MW total capacity by December. Suzlon recently got an order from Tata Finance and its wholly owned subsidiary, Niskalp Investment & Trading, to supply wind turbines for a 60 MW wind power project in Maharashtra.
