SaskPower signs up for 25 MW of wind power

SaskPower, the government-owned monopoly utility in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan, has reached an agreement with Red Lily Wind Power LP to buy power from a 25 MW wind project to be constructed near the town of Moosomin in the south-eastern part of the province. Preliminary construction activities are expected to begin in the fall of 2009, with the facility scheduled to be operating by the end of March 2011. The project was one of the winners in a 2006 request for proposals for small-scale generation that produces no new greenhouse gas emissions.
