Power contracts totalling 100 MW of installed wind capacity were signed December 13 between Kenetech Windpower and Hydro-Quebec. The contracts, two of 50 MW each, were won by Kenetech after competitive bidding. The projects will be located on the Gaspe Peninsula in eastern Quebec (Windpower Monthly, November 1991). "These contracts represent not only wind power's economic and environmental value, they also represent the foundation of what we believe will be a significant relationship between Kenetech and Hydro-Quebec," says Gerald Alderson, Kenetech president. "This project fits especially well into our long-term orientation in favour of hydro electricity and renewable energy," adds Francis Dupuis, director of independent power at Hydro-Quebec.
