Wind potential in Texas

An editorial in the Express-News of San Antonio, Texas, indicates that wind power is looking good in Texas. The eight-paragraph leader, entitled "Energy, my friend, blowin' in the wind," says: "Wind farms have been successful in California for years. Technology has improved enough to make production costs competitive with fossil fuels. With the lack of a national energy policy that would encourage oil exploration and production, reliable alternative energy sources will become more imperative." As much as 320 MW of wind is planned in Texas in the next seven years (Windpower Monthly, March 1994).
