Enercon's sixth Portugal factory

Enercon is to finish construction on its sixth facility in the Portuguese town of Viana do Castelo this month. The EUR 35 million factory in the Lanheses Business Park will produce rotor blades and completes the cluster of factories Enercon is committed to building under its role in a winning bid by the Eólicas de Portugal consortium for a government concession to install 1200 MW of wind power. The consortium, which is spending EUR 1.7 billion to 2011, also includes EDP, Finerge, Generg and Térmica Portuguesa. The other Enercon factories will make concrete towers, generators, and iron castings as well as more blades.
