Planning underway for 190 MW in the Weser estuary

The Lüneburg district government has begun regional planning procedures for the 190 MW Nordergründe offshore wind station being developed by Energiekontor in the North Sea. The company plans to install 76, 2.5 MW turbines in the Weser estuary. The electricity will be transported to Wilhelmshaven via a 40 kilometre undersea cable. If the building permit is granted, Energiekontor plans to start construction in 2004. The company has spent two years investigating the site from its research vessel, La Cour.
