1 May 2004
German company Voith of Heidenheim, one of the largest family-owned companies in Europe, has diversified its industrial services branch into wind turbine servicing. DIW Windservice, a subsidiary of Voith's DIW Deutsche Industriewartung in Stuttgart, offers a wide spectrum of services ranging from repowering old wind stations, rotor service and condition monitoring to fault diagnosis, procurement of replacement parts and crane services. Voith and the DIW Group will act as strong financial backers "to ensure security and sustainability of the long term turbine maintenance activities of DIW Windservice," says DIW. The group employs 7500 people at 100 locations in Europe while parent Voith has about 24,000 employees at 180 European locations.
